We tend to focus predominantly on small to medium sized London firms that often don’t advertise their vacancies widely. In most cases, candidate introductions we make are based on first hand knowledge of a practice gained from years of working closely with them. Of course, like most good agents, we also receive regular vacancy notifications from the larger City, national and regional practice and have a large database of current vacancies, a small selection of which can be found here.
Creating Opportunities
Firms of the size and type we usually deal with are always on the lookout for commercially minded candidates. Whether it be a candidate working in a niche or specialist area, a candidate with a following or just a lawyer with a real head for business, we’ll be able to identify options and create potential openings. The majority of our placements in recent years involved candidates joining firms at which there was no specific vacancy before our approach.
Tailored Approaches
Once we’ve identified potential firms, it’s essential an approach is made in the right way. You only get one chance to make a first impression with a firm so it’s important you choose the right partner to help you. We make sure our candidates are seen in the best possible light by the people that need to see them.
What We Don’t Do
Well, we’ve already told you that we don’t blast out CVs with little or no regard for where they’re going. We’ll also never send out your CV without your explicit authorisation. We pride ourselves on meeting the expectations of a candidate, rather than trying to push them towards a role we know they could get but don’t necessarily want. It’s an approach that has paid dividends for us down the years. Our candidates trust us and many return to us throughout their career, often as recruiters themselves!
It’s Not For Everyone
When it comes to marketing a candidate pro-actively (as opposed to filling a specific vacancy), we only work with a limited number of people and this allows us to really get to grips with the individuals concerned. The type of candidate we have most success with is very commercial and understands that law is a business.
